FAQ

About AIMO

What is AIMO?

AIMO is a Malaysian connectivity brand operated by I Urban Sdn. Bhd. We offer portable WiFi devices and prepaid mobile internet solutions designed to make staying connected simple and flexible.

What products does AIMO offer?

Our main devices are the AIMO AM68 Portable WiFi, a compact mobile hotspot with a built-in 8,000mAh powerbank, and the AIMO AM80 WiFi 6 Router, a plug-and-play router with external antennas and a LAN port.

Which AIMO device should I choose?

Choose the AM68 if you want portable WiFi for travelling or daily use, with a built-in powerbank. Choose the AM80 if you mainly need a plug-in WiFi router for your home, office or another indoor location.

Devices and Connectivity

Do I need to buy or insert a SIM card?

No. AIMO devices are supplied with internally managed connectivity, so you do not need to purchase, insert or replace a SIM card yourself. Please do not open or tamper with the device to access its sealed SIM.

Does AIMO use 4G or 5G mobile networks?

AIMO currently provides mobile internet through 4G LTE networks. The WiFi 6 feature refers to the wireless connection between your AIMO device and your phone, laptop or other equipment; it does not mean 5G mobile coverage.

How many devices can connect at the same time?

The AM68 supports up to 8 connected devices, while the AM80 supports up to 10 connected devices. Actual experience depends on usage, signal quality and available network capacity.

Can I use the AM68 as a powerbank?

Yes. The AM68 includes a built-in 8,000mAh powerbank. Switch on the AM68 before using its powerbank function.

How do I connect my phone or laptop to AIMO WiFi?

Turn on your AIMO device and allow it to connect to the mobile network. On your phone or laptop, open WiFi settings, select the network name (SSID) shown on the back of your AIMO device and enter the printed WiFi password.

Does AIMO work everywhere in Malaysia?

AIMO can be used in areas with supported mobile network coverage. Signal strength, coverage, internet speed and service availability vary by location, building, congestion and network conditions. Coverage and performance cannot be guaranteed at every location.

Mobile Networks and Telco Switching

Which mobile networks does AIMO support?

AIMO currently offers supported network options through CelcomDigi and Maxis, subject to availability. U Mobile is not currently available. Available options may change, so please refer to the options shown on your device management page.

Can I change my mobile network?

Yes. Where available, AIMO allows you to request a switch between supported mobile networks without changing or handling a physical SIM card. Switching is subject to coverage, plan conditions and technical availability.

How do I switch telcos?

  1. Scan the QR code on the back of your AIMO device.
  2. Open the device management page and select Operation Switch.
  3. Choose an available mobile network.
  4. Allow approximately 15 minutes for switching.
  5. Restart the device, then allow approximately 2–5 minutes for reconnection.

Will switching telcos always improve my internet speed?

Not necessarily. Different networks can perform differently depending on your location, congestion, signal strength and other factors. Switching does not guarantee stronger coverage or faster speed.

Data Plans, Registration and Top-Ups

Does AIMO require a contract?

No. AIMO offers prepaid data plans without a long-term service contract. You purchase a plan for its stated validity period and renew or buy another plan when needed.

What data plan durations are available?

AIMO offers plans with validity periods of 30, 90, 180 or 365 days, subject to the options currently offered. Please check the purchase page for the latest prices, plan details and any applicable conditions.

How do I buy or top up a data plan?

Simply scan the QR code on the back of your AIMO device to open the device status and top-up page. Choose an available data plan, review the details and complete payment. The plan starts when activation is confirmed, unless the purchase page states otherwise.

Do I need to download an app?

No app is required. You can access your device information, top-up options and supported network switching functions through the QR-linked web page.

Do I need to register my device?

For first-time registration, you may be asked to provide your name and mobile number and complete a one-time OTP verification. Providing an email address is optional. Registration is normally completed during your first top-up.

Is there a welcome data offer for new customers?

Eligible new device registrations currently receive 5GB of welcome data valid for 5 days. Eligibility and activation details are subject to the terms shown during registration.

What happens when my data plan expires?

Your prepaid internet service stops when the plan expires. To continue using AIMO connectivity, purchase a new available data plan. Unused plan benefits normally do not carry forward unless the purchased plan expressly states otherwise.

Where can I check the data plan price and details?

Scan the QR code on your device and review the plan options displayed before payment. The purchase page shows the current price, validity period, relevant plan details and any applicable restrictions.

Warranty, Orders and Support

Does the AIMO device come with a warranty?

Eligible AIMO devices include a 12-month limited device warranty starting from successful first device registration, unless different terms are disclosed at purchase. The warranty generally covers manufacturing defects, subject to the Warranty Policy and applicable consumer rights.

What if my device is faulty or I receive the wrong item?

Contact AIMO customer support with your order details and a description of the problem. We may ask for proof of purchase and information to assess the issue and arrange an appropriate inspection, replacement, repair or other remedy under the applicable policies and law.

Can I get a refund for a data plan?

An activated prepaid data plan is generally non-refundable, except where required by law or where a qualifying activation, payment or service issue occurs. Please contact AIMO for an assessment. See our Terms & Conditions and Refund Policy for details.

Can I give or sell my AIMO device to another person?

You own the physical AIMO device after full payment. Please notify AIMO before transferring it to another person so any applicable ownership and service records can be updated. Network resources associated with the device do not transfer as personal property.
